Method:
-
Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas mark 5.

Put the
plums in a saucepan with the water and stew until
tender. Add the sugar.

Spread the bread with the
butter and use 2 of the slices to line a 20cm/8in
ovenproof serving dish. Top with the plums.
-
Cut the
remaining bread into thin strips and arrange in a
lattice on top of the plums.
-
Sprinkle with caster
sugar and bake in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes,
until golden brown.
