Desserts Recipes - Chocolate Banana Sundae Recipe

Ingredients

SERVES 4

  • 50g/2oz dark chocolate (broken into small pieces)

  • 100g/4oz golden syrup

  • 15g/1/2oz butter

  • 1 tablespoon rum

  • 150ml/1/4pt double cream

  • 12 scoops vanilla ice-cream

  • 4 bananas (sliced)

  • 75g/3oz flaked almonds (toasted)


Method:

  1. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl with the syrup and butter. Heat over a pan of simmering water until melted, stirring until well combined.

  2. Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the rum. Whip the cream until just holding its shape.

  3. Place a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in the bottom of each of 4 tall sundae glasses.

  4. Top with the sliced banana, some chocolate sauce and a sprinkling of nuts. Repeat the layers, finishing with a generous dollop of cream.
